As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and the core values of democracy as the nation continues its journey toward sustainable development.
In a statement released on Thursday Alhaja Sarumi Akintunde reflected on the significance of June 12 in Nigeria’s democratic history, describing it as a day that symbolizes the resilience, courage, and collective will of the Nigerian people.
“June 12 is not just a date, it is a reminder of the sacrifices made for democracy and the need for us all to work together in building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria,” she said.
She emphasized that democracy thrives best in an atmosphere of tolerance, civic responsibility, and unity of purpose.
According to her, Nigerians must set aside their differences and focus on what unites them in other to overcome the country’s current challenges.
The APC chairman also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to deepening democratic governance and delivering on the renewed hope agenda.
She urged citizens to continue supporting government efforts aimed at improving security, economic stability, and good governance.
“As stakeholders in this great nation, we must all play our part. From the grassroots to the national level, our collective progress depends on the strength of our unity and the quality of our participation in democratic processes,” she added.
